In Palworld, the Death Penalty setting refers to the effects of dying in the game. Death is an unavoidable risk in these wild and unpredictable surroundings, but players can change the severity of its effects using specialized server settings.
The Palworld has a total of four death penalty settings: No Drops, Drop All Items Except Equipment, Drop All Items, and Drop All Items and Pals on Team.
No Drops
Players keep their Pals and items after dying or respawning. This is the safest setting accessible, ideal for when you simply want a normal and peaceful session in your world.
Drop All items Except Equipment
After dying or respawning in the World, players drop all built-up resources, as well as consumables and Key Items. You can only keep weapons and clothing, and you will have a countdown to regain all dropped things at the last location where you

When you die or respawn, you drop all of the items in your Inventory, Pal Team, and Equipment. This is the most difficult penalty, and it will require extensive preparation before stepping out into the wild.
How to Change the Death Penalty Settings
- Step 1 – Start the game
- Step 2 – Access World Settings at the bottom of the screen.
- Step 3 – Find the Custom Difficulty option and click on the button labeled “Custom Setting.”
- Step 4 – Scroll Down and find the Death Penalty Option
- Step 5 – Select the Preferred Death Penalty including No Drops, Drop All Items Except Equipment, Drop All Items, and Drop All Items and Pals on Team
- Step 6 – Apply Changes.
